As an aperitif or with desserts or other dishes, sweet wines are highly regarded worldwide. Of all the places where sweet wines are made, we have chosen the most beautiful places to visit and learn their unique creations.

               

                                                          Oporto, Portugal

The beautiful Portuguese capital of Port wine is named after one of Appellations of Origin oldest in the world. But only it gives the name and the vineyards and production areas are located approximately 100 km northwest of Portugal and specifically on the banks of the River Duero. Among the wines we headed or fortified sweet wine (usually made from the variety Touriga although there are up to 30 varieties listed) and have an aging process rather complex reminiscent of sherry. Among the different styles of Port wines stand out Ruby (for its gemstone-like color) and Tawny (by its rusty and somewhat brown appearance). The Garrafeira (in carboys) and Vintage rise with the sweet reign in the Douro.
